EP 5 – The 10 Principles of Joyful Movement Series #3 – Just Say NO to Punishment
Show Notes
Welcome back to our series on the 10 principles of joyful movement. This week we discuss principle 3 – Just say no to punishment.
No Pain, No Gain is the most common “motivation” saying from the fitness industry. As such, we’re conditioned to believe that the only way to get fit is to push ourselves to the brink 5-6 days a week.
But it’s not working. Thinking that exercise has to hurt or that it has to be incredibly difficult is anything BUT motivating.
Buying into this mentality might result in some short term gains but usually ends you up injured and exhausted, and inevitably giving up.
In this episode, I’ll give you tools you can use to know the difference between challenging yourself and pain and how to achieve steady progress towards your goals without dreading exercise.
What you’ll learn by listening:
- The difference between pushing yourself, and punishing yourself
- How to tell if what you’re feeling is a “good hurt” or if you’ve crossed the line into pain.
- Tools you can use to change your mindset about movement so that it is fun, challenging, rewarding and SAFE!
