EP 43 – Joyful Competition with Julie-Anne Staehli
It’s not everyday you get to sit down with an Olympic athlete! I’m very excited to welcome Julie-Anne Staehli to The Joyful Movement Show this week.
Julie-Anne is a local legend, if you live near me in mid-western Ontario you would have definitely been watching as she represented Canada in the women’s 5000 m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Something I noticed about Julie-Anne as I was watching her journey leading up to and during the games was how happy she seemed. She radiated joy for her sport and I found that fascinating because often competition, especially at such a high level is anything but joyful.

Julie-Anne Staehli is a 5000m runner from Lucknow, ON who just competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. She went to Queen’s University for a Bachelor of Arts Honours and Master of Science in Health Studies and Sport Psychology. She recently finished her education with a teaching degree from Western University this past spring. She is going to put her career on hold for the time being and focus on training leading into Paris 2024.
