EP 46- How’s Your Self-Talk?
What do you say to yourself during exercise? Do you find your inner critic gets really loud in the face of a challenge, do you judge yourself or call yourself names (lazy, out of shape, clumsy)?
Our self-talk directly influences how we feel about exercise and how we’ll engage with it – whether that’s avoidance, having to use willpower, pushing through pain or becoming overly competitive. And if our self-talk is critical, rooted in fear, shame or a sense of inadequacy – it’s impossible to access joyful movement. The two cannot exist simultaneously.
If you’re struggling to get your head around this whole joyful movement thing, it could be because your self-talk story centers around needing to fix yourself, control your body, or change something you don’t like about yourself.
In this episode, Kim will teach you how to reframe your mindset and speak to yourself in a way that opens you up to experience joy.
