Episode 51 - Emotional Eating with Sabrina Rogers

Show Notes

Do you feel like you’re an emotional eater?  If you said no, think again!  How do you feel when you think about your grandma’s apple pie?  Or the chicken noodle soup your mom made for you when you were sick?

Food is tied to memories, celebration, and comfort – if you’re a human on earth, you definitely experience emotion while eating.

The problem is we are taught to feel ashamed of eating for comfort; or that if we have uncomfortable feelings it is wrong to cope with them with food.

Tune into this episode as Kim interviews Sabrina Rogers, licensed mental health counsellor as we discuss all the ins and outs of emotional eating.

What you’ll learn by listening:

  1. Why we’re all emotional eaters
  2. Why we turn to food to cope with difficult feelings
  3. The reason food works to make us feel better and how we’re conditioned to believe this is a bad thing.
  4. How mindfulness and curiosity can help reduce the guilt associated with emotional eating.
