Episode 63- Intentionally Moving Towards Joy

Carrying on from last week’s conversation “F*ck Joyful Movement”, this episode will explore practical ways that we can engage with movement if joy seems elusive or even if strong emotions are present while we move.

In this episode we’ll clear up some misconceptions about joy and how movement doesn’t have to be sunshine and rainbows all the time, but rather how we can bridge the gap between hateful exercise and joyful movement.

As well, we’ll discuss why difficult emotions are sometimes present during exercise and why it’s not wrong to feel them but rather how we can use movement as a way to process and change our emotional state.

What you’ll learn by listening:

  1. How to redefine joy so that it feels more accessible
  2. How intentional movement can be a great neutral ground between hateful exercise and joyful movement
  3. The purpose of our emotions and why it’s normal and OK for all emotions to be present during exercise
  4. How movement can help with emotional self-regulation
  5. Specific ways to move to process feelings of anger, sadness, fear and  to cultivate happiness.
