EP 66 – How to Create A Game You Can Win
Can you identify with any of these commonly held beliefs about exercise?
- If it’s not an hour, it’s not worth it
- If I didn’t sweat or feel sore, it wasn’t good enough
- You need to show up every day and put the work in
- Walking isn’t exercise
- Stretching doesn’t count
- If I don’t give it my all, I’ll never make progress
All or nothing thinking like this keeps us stuck believing that anything short of perfectionism is failure and therefore we cycle through short, sporadic intense bursts of activity, followed by periods of sedentariness. Which only prevents us from having a consistent, enjoyable movement practice and experiencing all the benefits that come from it.
I believe that all bodies need movement, but we don’t need “exercise” – and I’m on a mission to help ALL women experience the benefits of regular movement without all the pressure, guilt and shame that accompanies this all or nothing thinking (that’s also rooted in the perceived need to change our bodies).
