When returning to a fitness routine, it can be really easy to fall into a trap of comparing yourself to a previous, fitter, version of yourself.
“How did I get so out of shape?”
“Why did I let myself go?”
“It’ll take me forever to get back to that level.”
“I used to feel so good, now everything is just hard.”
While it’s possible to improve our fitness and achieve goals by criticizing and antagonizing ourselves…. Often this kind of negative self talk results in staying stuck or at the very least, hating the process.
