Radiant People – Barbara

I’d like you all to meet this beautiful woman I’ve had the privilege  to work with for the last few months. 

Barbara came to me back in July with weight loss goals, as most of my clients do.

𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 – 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙩𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛.

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘴.

It’s been an absolute honour  and joy to be part of Barbara’ journey to self acceptance.

Here’s Barbara’s inspiring story:

“My journey this year has been quite a wild one. Before Covid began I was off work for health reasons, which made me really begin to question where balance lies.

After a few months of being back to work and living in a COVID world I realized that I had begun to neglect my body. I reached out to you when I hit a serious plateau and just wasn’t feeling right about things.

In the past I have always had a ‘no pain, no gain’ mentality, which always resulted in yoyo weight loss and gain.

After working together and enjoying what it feels like to be active again, my approach is very different and much more maintainable.

I’ve learned to accept what my body needs to simply feel good and loved. Weight loss, for the first time, hasn’t been the priority. It’s all about keeping active and enjoying new gains in cardio/weight lifting/ and flexibility.

As someone with an eating disorder background, this is a balance I never thought possible.

While I am definitely still motivated to see some physical alterations (let’s be honest, there’s some toning to do after a few COVID months of cocktail hours), I enjoy that I am not working for control of my body. Instead I’m learning to listen and work with my body.

Moving forward I’m hoping to follow your online classes and build myself a little gym at home to work on the exercises I have learned (although I may avoid lunges…and split squats, which in my opinion are lunges 😂)
